Acquilano

Modern, Minimalist Design for Interior Architects

Branding and Website Design

Challenge/
Context

Acquilano is a Denver-based interior architecture firm, where workplace strategists act as the incubators of culture. They Listen. Then Create. And are obsessed with transforming spaces into dynamic, effective environments where people love to work.

Designing for Designers

Acquilano, formerly Acquilano Leslie, was undergoing a name change and came to Buhv Designs in need of a brand refresh and a fresh new website to match. We love the opportunity to work with clients in the creative industry, and understood that this project would come with an added layer of scrutiny. Designers, am I right??

Logo and Brand Guidelines

Removing half of your name, no big deal right? Our design team made sure that with the switch to “Acquilano” there was no stone left unturned. We first transitioned their logo into a stand-alone wordmark that represented their bold, simplistic style. From there, our team created robust guidelines for the new brand that covered color palette, fonts, logo usages, iconography, and image usage.

Content & Design

Minimal copy with a clean, editorial design style. Sometimes the simplest direction is the hardest to execute. Our team rose to the challenge and worked collaboratively with the Acquilano stakeholders to create the perfect blend of personality and style. The layout featured plenty of negative space, large full-color images, and close attention to alignment and padding. Contrasting three-column image grids against full-width featured images was a creative solution to break the mold and showcase the stunning spaces Acquilano has created for their clients.

Development

The development team was tasked with building a sophisticated website that complimented the minimalist design style. Subtle animations were added to actionable areas and CTAs, and hover-state alternate images were used to create added interest in the project grids. A custom blog feed with video capabilities was built to aggregate posts and add movement to the site. Google map integrations on the contact page displayed all of the affiliate agency locations with a clean, branded look. All aspects of the build were carefully QA’d and tested for mobile responsiveness.

Custom Photography

To support the new look and feel of the Acquilano brand, and to fill the pages of the new website with personality, Buhv partnered with Brand Viva to arrange custom photography shoots for Acquilano. We lent our creative direction to make sure that everything went off without a hitch, and photo editing chops to put a final polish on the assets.

Results

The new website was launched in support of the much anticipated brand reveal, and garnered overwhelming responses from industry partners and Acquilano clients.
